Lead Software Engineer - Customer Identity and Access Management

About the position

We are seeking an experienced technical lead who will be creating innovative experiences around customer identity at CarMax. You will work with other technical leads, product management, designers, and system integration to integrate a new CIAM platform. This role offers an excellent opportunity to make a real impact and help shape CarMax's omnichannel experience, allowing customers to buy or sell vehicles they want in a way that’s right for them.

What will you be doing?

  • Facilitating discussions between developers and business partners to create innovative experiences for our customers
  • Guiding and mentoring a team focused on a specific product and its associated software, working closely with specialists including a product manager, UX expert and analyst
  • Leading technical execution within an agile environment including discovery, design, development and testing
  • Staying on top of industry trends and best practice to continuously improve what we do and ensure our customer experience is the best it can be
  • Working across other product experience teams to design, develop, test and iterate on CarMax's identity and integrations platforms using an agile development methodology
  • Implementing multiple authentication and authorization flows through Identity and Access Management Systems
  • Supporting Identity integration through various protocols like SAML / OAUTH / OpenID Connect / others
  • Partnering with new applications and products to on-board them into the new CIAM platform
  • Fostering omni-channel thinking techniques to CarMax's customer-facing domains, from concept to launch
  • Fostering API(s) driven integration consumed through omni channel interfaces like Traditional Web Apps, Single Page Application Frameworks, Mobile, B2B systems, etc.

• Testing and supporting production-ready web prototypes, for both requirements and production development iterations

• Researching and adopting new technologies

Qualifications and requirements:

  • At least eight years of application development experience
  • Expertise in Microsoft.NET (#C), JavaScript (ES6/ES7), CSS best practices, API and messaging paradigms, and SQL Server
  • Mentor and develop others
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • API development and evangelist
  • Experience with / knowledge of Microsoft Azure, CI/CD pipelines, Automated Testing, DevOps practices, and React / Angular / Vue.js is preferred
  • Experience with / knowledge of Identity and Access management (IAM) preferred
